Florida License Upgrade Application, Done With You

You already passed a state exam once. The upgrade is a shorter road than the first license was.

Florida lets some licensed contractors move up a classification without rebuilding their entire work history. If you qualify under one of these paths, the application skips the employment history section completely. You provide your license number and the state verifies it.

The upgrade paths

• Residential to Building: hold an active certified residential license for at least 3 years
• Residential or Building to General: hold an active certified license for at least 4 years in the class you are certified in
• Class B Air to Class A Air: hold an active Class B license and meet the state holding period

Each of these still requires passing the exams for the new classification. What changes is the paperwork, and the paperwork is where most people stall.

What it costs and what it does not include

Our fee is $749. State application fees, credit report fees, fingerprint fees, and exam fees are paid by you directly to the state or the vendor. Books and exam prep for the new classification are sold separately.
