Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Florida HVAC Class A and Class B?

Class A is unlimited: any size cooling or heating system. Class B is capped at 25 tons of cooling and 500,000 BTU of heating. If you want commercial work with no ceiling, Class A is the license.

Is the Florida HVAC exam open book?

Yes. Both the trade exam and Business and Finance are open book, restricted to the approved reference list. The Class A exam is the longest trade exam in the construction program, so lookup speed matters even more.

How many exams does Class A require?

Two: the Class A trade exam (130 scored questions, 7.5 hours) and Business and Finance (120 scored questions, 6.5 hours). Passing is 70 percent on each.

Do I need experience to qualify?

Florida requires four years of experience or an experience and education combination. Call us and we will map your qualifying path.

Can I rent the books?

Yes. Rentals include the full tabbed set and both prep courses, with a refundable deposit and a 4 month return window.
