Residential Contractor (CRC)

Your Florida Residential Contractor license path, handled: hand-tabbed and highlighted books in 48 hours, rental packages, exam prep courses, exam registration, and your DBPR application done with you.

What a Florida CRC license lets you build

The Certified Residential Contractor (CRC) covers construction, remodeling, and repair of one, two, and three family residences up to two habitable stories, plus accessory structures. If you build, flip, or remodel houses anywhere in Florida, this is the license that puts your name on the permit instead of someone else's.

What the exam actually looks like

Three exams: Contract Administration (45 scored questions, 4.5 hours), Project Management (45 scored questions, 4.5 hours), and Business and Finance (120 scored questions, 6.5 hours). Every exam is open book and multiple choice with a 70 percent passing score, delivered by computer at Pearson VUE centers with registration through Professional Testing, Inc. The shortest Division I trade exams in Florida, and still a lookup race that rewards tabbed books.

Frequently asked questions

What can a Florida Residential Contractor build?

One, two, and three family residences up to two habitable stories, plus accessory structures. If your business is houses, the CRC covers it.

What is the difference between CRC, CBC, and CGC?

CRC covers homes up to two habitable stories. CBC adds commercial and residential buildings up to three stories. CGC is unlimited. Each step up means a longer trade exam; the Business and Finance exam is identical for all three.

Is the exam open book?

Yes. All three CRC exams are open book with only state-approved references allowed, which is why we tab and highlight every book before it ships.

How many exams does the CRC require?

Three: Contract Administration (45 scored questions, 4.5 hours), Project Management (45 scored questions, 4.5 hours), and Business and Finance (120 scored questions, 6.5 hours). Passing is 70 percent on each.

Can I upgrade from CRC to CBC or CGC later?

Yes. Many contractors start with the CRC, build experience, and upgrade. We handle upgrade applications too, so the path stays open.
